Crossroads Sauvignon Blanc, Wins Gold
Medal
February 2005, sixty of the worlds top sommeliers descended on the Ritz
Carlton in Philadelphia to judge over 2000 wines - Crossroads Winery won a Gold & Silver
Medal
What is the Starwine?
On February 24, 25 and 26, sixty of the world's top tasters including the
world's top sommeliers, Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine from 20 countries assembled in
Philadelphia to taste and evaluate nearly 2000 wines from 30 countries. The Bronze, Silver and
Gold medals awarded at Starwine represent a stunning array of wine styles and types - truly
superb wines.
Starwine judges were asked to evaluate wines based on merit as well as
appeal to the consumer. At Starwine, we believe that the pleasure a wine offers is an attribute
which deserves recognition.
All judging flights were conducted blind by panels of five
tasters, usually representing as many as five countries. No numerical scores were given, and
judges were encouraged to discuss each flight of wines’ to share their opinions and
assessments. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to wines the judges deemed,
respectively, outstanding, very good and good examples of their types.
We believe a
Starwine medal signifies that the wine has passed the strict evaluation of world class tasters
and will deliver quality and enjoyability.
