Crossroads Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough) 2011

A fresh, fruit driven wine, typical of the highly acclaimed Marlborough region with pronounced passion fruit and gooseberry flavors with a touch of honeysuckle. With straw hues, the wine finishes with crisp refreshing acidity that makes it undeniably a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc classic. A delicious, easy drinking summer wine perfectly matched for alfresco dining and all seafood dishes. The acidity helps makes this bone dry Sauvignon Blanc an instant classic. 5,000 cases made

  Crossroads Sauvignon Pink (Marlborough) 2010

The Pink is essentially 96% Sauvignon Blanc with a 4% splash of Syrah. This gives it a delightful pink appearance and has all the hallmarks of our Crossroads Sauvignon Blanc and is slightly more subtle on the nose exhibiting citrus nose with gooseberry to strawberry flavors. Its a great summer wine and best enjoyed with company and great summer's lunch. 1000 cases made

Crossroads Chardonnay (Hawkes Bay) 2008

This is an elegant cool climate Chardonnay. The juice was inoculated with a burgundian yeast strain before being sent to tank and barrels. The Barrel portion was aged on its lees for six months, before being blended. The resulting wine was lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling. The Wine is now showing apple, cinnamon, and pear notes. Just the right amount of Oak maturation in French barriques is balanced with good acidity; the mid-palate is very impressive, leading to a pleasant, lingering finish.

 Crossroads, Merlot /Cabernet 2010

We like to describe this wine as reserved, but confident and definitely a leader in its price point. It’s a Merlot dominated wine and displays the typical softness of the variety. The Cabernet lends a delicate balance of blackcurrant and plum flavor to the palate and a mild firmness and length to the tannin structure. Open top fermenters were used and the wine was racked in a mixture of French and American barrels for 12 months. It has a good structure and nice integration of tannins.

 Crossroads RGF (Hawkes Bay) 2008

RGF is a limited production premium red wine that was hand picked from the best sites at Crossroads Fernhill vineyards in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. RGF is a unique and secret blend of six noble varieties all harvested and vinted separately. After gentle crushing and complete de-stemming the individual varietal components were fermented in small open top fermentation vessels, regular hand plunging ensured gradual extraction of the color and tannin that lends RGF its structure and presence. After fermentation the young wines were settled before being racked to new (63%) and older French and American oak barriques. Following twelve months maturation the various components were progressively blended producing a wine of the desired style before being returned to clean oak. An additional six months maturation as a complete blend allowed the individual components to integrate with the oak; the wine developing an elegant vinosity. This is a beautifully balanced wine, which is soft and engaging with many layers of flavor.

Photo to come Curious Cove - Pinot Gris 2008 (unoaked)

The Curious Cove is a new range of our New Zealand wines that is unoaked as the market continues to demand that less is more especially when it comes to the NZ wine category. We introduced the Pinot Gris recently and has a full mouth feel with generous stone fruit flavors from our Hawkes Bay vineyards. The bubble gum nose is terrific and several people (sommeliers included) have said its is a beautiful marriage between the Pinot Gris with New Zealand Sauvignon blanc characteristics

Curious Cove - Chardonnay 2007 (unoaked)

By now you know we make a terrific Chardonnay and this is no exception. The best part is that we brought in several 1000 cases. The best part about our chardonnays is that they age beautifully. This is no exception and carries vibrant apricot aromas and is very well balanced and we don't have much left....

"Mana NZ" Pinot Noir (Marlborough) 2008

Mana [mah-nah] NZ (TM) is the Maori word used to describe status, respect and prestige. These terms also describe what Mana wines aspire to achieve in the world of wine. Mana Pinot Noir is a seductive and elegant wine with pronounced red berry fruits and a lingering spicy oak character. Medium bodied and dry in style, the wine balances fruit, acidity and tannins. A Pure New Zealand Pinot Noir.

Photo to come "Crown Range" Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2008, New Zealand

The Crown Range (TM) is the range that separates Lake Wanaka and Lake Wakaitupu aka as Queenstown. All our grapes come from Bannocburn and were all hand picked at 2 tons/acre (small yield) and then matured for 12 months in french oak, of which 40% was new. The wine was unfiltered so as to maintain the purity of the wine and keep the balanced tannic structure. It has a hickory & cherry nose with a velvety chocolate after taste that lingers for several minutes which tells me this will age for many years. The best part is that it is half the price of any other well made Central Otago pinot's....that comes with experience ;-)

Thorny Devil Shiraz, Gundagai NSW -2003

The 2003 Thorny Devil (TM) Shiraz is inky purple in color and is followed by a gorgeous nose of sweet fragrances such as red currants and black cherry, with hints of vanilla and sweet licorice. Remarkably concentrated & full bodied, this wine is good representation of the new up and coming appellation of Gundagai, New South Wales.
